Sonomax Technologies and DEC in collaboration agreement

Delft, Netherlands May 19th 2010. Dynamic Ear Company (DEC) the innovative developer of hearing protection technology and intellectual property for industrial, music and consumer electronic applications, today announced it has entered into a collaboration agreement with Sonomax Technologies, the Montreal based provider of instant custom fitted sound isolating and enhancement technologies.

Under the terms of the agreement the parties  will co-develop a custom module housing DEC’s patented Dynamic Sound Technology (DST) for integration in the Sonomax V4 Self-FitTM customisable earpiece platform, affording Sonomax with a DST solution for consumer electronic market such as earphones, Bluetooth and communication headsets.

DEC’s DST is an automatically variable attenuation technology initially developed for hearing protection, in earphone applications users stay in contact with their environment as unprocessed natural sounds are able to enter the ear without the removal of earphones. This reduces the occlusion effect normally associated with earphones whilst allowing the placement of sounds such as cars and sirens, making crossing of roads, running and cycling with earphones a safer activity.  As required the DST valve closes providing the user with unassailable levels of noise isolation, users are then able to reduce the music volume and consequently limit the effect of loud music on the hearing.
